50s - To Know Him Is To Love Him (Teddy Bears)

To Know Him Is To Love Him

"To Know Him Is To Love Him" was writen by Phil Spector when he was only an 18-year old student of the Los Angeles high school. Together with his friends, Annette Kleinbard (16) and Marshall Leib (19), they formed Teddy Bears and the song, which was their first recording, went to #1 on the US Billboard chart for 3 weeks (November - December 1958).

In Malaysia, the song (renamed as To Know You Is To Love You) was made popular by the UK duo, Peter and Gordon, in the 60s.

In 1987, the song was resurrected by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, who took the song to the top of the U.S. country singles charts.

Lyrics:

To know know know him
Is to love love love him
Just to see him smile
Makes my life worthwhile
To know know know him
Is to love love love him
And I do

I'll be good to him
I'll bring love to him
Everyone says there'll come a day
When I'll walk alongside of him
Yes just to know him
Is to love love love him
And I do

Why can't he see
How blind can he be
Someday he will see
That he was meant for me

To know know know him
Is to love love love him
Just to see him smile
Makes my life worthwhile
To know know know him
Is to love love love him
And I do
