1962 - Breaking Up Is Hard To Do (Neil Sedaka)

Breaking UP Is Hard To Do

"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do"
is a song recorded by Neil Sedaka and is considered to be his signature song. It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 2 weeks in August 1962 and was a good hit all over the world.

Originally an uptempo song, Sedaka re-recorded it as a ballad in 1975 and the new version peaked at #8 in February 1976 and went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart; it was only the second time that an artist made the Billboard Top Ten with two different versions of the same song.

Lyrics:

Don't take your love away from me
Don't you leave my heart in misery
If you go then I'll be blue
'Cause breaking up his hard to do

Remember when you held me tight
And you kissed me all through the night
Think of all that we've been through
Breaking up is hard to do

They say that breaking up is hard to do
Now I know, I know that it's true
Don't say that this is the end
Instead of breaking up I wish that we were making up again

I beg of you, don't say goodbye
Can't we give our love another try
Come on baby, let's start anew
'Cause breaking up is hard to do
