"Johnny Angel" is a song written by Lyn Duddy and Lee Pockriss and recorded by Shelley Fabares.
It hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for 2 weeks in April 1962, during a 15-week run on the chart.
However, Shelley did not consider herself a singer (as Shelly was more an actress). Her career as a singer came to an end within a few years of "Johnny Angel" after she was unable to come up with another Top 20 hit. The song has become an oldies radio airplay favorite.
The Carpenters covered "Johnny Angel" in 1973 as part of a medley of oldies on side two of their album Now and Then.
As quality of Shelly's video is rather poor, here's The Carpenter's version of the song:

Wonderful Land
"Wonderful Land" is an instrumental piece, written by Jerry Lordon, which was released as a single by The Shadows in February 1962. It reached the #1 spot in the UK Charts and remained there for next 8 weeks (February - April 1962)!
English musician Mike Oldfield covered "Wonderful Land" on his 1980 QE2 album.
Hank Marvin (of The Shadows) and Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straits) also recorded a version of the song in the 1990s.

Cashing in on his hugh success or rather the re-released of "The Twist" in early 1962, Chubby Checker released "Let's Twist Again" and topped the UK single charts for 2 weeks in February and March, 1962.
The song, written by Karl Mann and Dave Appell, 'though thought by many as a variation of the original song "The Twist", it went on to receive the 1962 Grammy Award for Best Rock & Roll Recording.
